My graduation ready-to-wear collection was an explorative body of work. Using distinctive elements and materials such as faux fur, rib, gold pleated brass and metallic memory fabric, I played with placements on garments according to the anatromical disposition of our bodies. Can and should shoulders be reinforced by small metal plates? Do we need shapable fabrics to support body’s movement? Are shoulder pads empowering?
Compact styles such as cropped vests and jacket took a central stage in this explorative work.
Collaborating with the innovative Japanese fabric supplier Chikuma allowed me to mix and match highly textural fabrics and bring in newness in fabrication.
